Lachy McLean

As head of Parexel’s Immunology & Inflammation therapeutic area, Lachy is responsible for advising our customers on drug development and demonstrating thought leadership across the industry. He leads a team of physicians, all subject matter experts specializing in understanding the mechanisms underlying disorders in this area.

Work Experience
Lachy has broad expertise in immunology and inflammation with experience in rheumatoid arthritis, gout, systemic lupus erythematosus, lupus nephritis, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, and orphan disease. Before joining Parexel, he was Chief Medical Officer for Genascence Corp., where he led the development of a genetic medicine for osteoarthritis injected directly into the affected joint. He also served as Chief Medical Officer at Novome, where he developed engineered bacteria as a drug delivery platform. He previous includes positions of increasing seniority at AstraZeneca, Merck, Genentech/Roche, and at Travere. 

Education
Lachy earned his medical degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and his doctorate in immunology from the University of London. He trained as a clinical rheumatologist including sub-specialty fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and ran an academic group focused on translational research and clinical trials.
