Robert Blum
President and CEO of Cytokinetics
Robert Blum has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cytokinetics and a member of its Board of Directors since 2007. Previously, he held other senior positions at the Company overseeing R&D, Finance, Corporate Development/ Business Development, Legal, and Commercial/Strategic Planning at various times since participating in the launch of the company in 1998. Prior to Cytokinetics, Robert held positions in Business Development, Commercial Development and Marketing at COR Therapeutics, from 1991 to 1998. He also performed roles of increasing responsibility in Sales, Marketing, and Business Planning at Marion Laboratories and Syntex Corporation beginning his professional career in 1981.
In addition to his corporate work, Robert previously served on the faculty at the Center for BioEntrepreneurship at University of California, San Francisco, where he has taught a graduate -level Corporate Finance course. He currently serves on the Board of BIO and is a founding Board member of Life Science Cares, Bay Area. He co-chaired the BIO Business Development Committee and is a frequent lecturer on topics related to Corporate/Business Development and Finance in the biopharmaceutical industry. He was named a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute in recognition of his leadership in corporate and civic responsibilities. He is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network and has moderated seminars related to science, health, and technology at Aspen Action Forums.
Robert received B.A. degrees in Human Biology and Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
